Meet Our Staff

Grant Leckie
Executive Director 

Born and raised in the southwest of Scotland, Grant began working in youth soccer after finishing high school whilst completing a 2 year Higher National Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development. Grant began his coaching career with the prestigious Pro Youth Academy at Glasgow Rangers, coaching alongside club legend Johnny Hubbard, he was able to work with handpicked players who formed U9 and U12 boys teams.

This position and experience led to further coaching opportunities with the Scottish Football Association in their community programs and working with the local Development Squad. Grant furthered his education by completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sports Management whilst continuing his on field work with the SFA and Glasgow Rangers.

After graduating University, Grant left Scotland to pursue a coaching opportunity, here in the US, with Challenger Sports. His US adventure allowed him to coach in 20 states and work on youth summer camps as well as acting a professional trainer for Lincoln Spirit Soccer Club, Albert Lea Youth Soccer and Albert Lea High School.

After 3 successful years on the field, Grant was offered the opportunity to move into a full-time management role here in Cincinnati and oversee staffing and programming in Ohio and Kentucky for Challenger Sports. This role allowed him to partner with over 200 organizations since 2008 developing new programs, educating coaches, supporting existing programs, providing educational material and increasing player development opportunities. As Regional Business Manager, Grant hired, trained and managed 100 + staff annually in order to provide high quality coaching programs to Challenger Sports’ partner organizations.

Since moving to Cincinnati, Grant has been a trainer with Kolping Soccer Club and STAR Soccer Club and has been able to work closely with many local recreational and competitive programs in order to utilize his experience and qualifications to the benefit of many youth soccer players.  

Grant is married to Julie and has two sons, Cameron and Callum.

Jack Perkins

Goalkeeping coach / Team trainer 

Born in Bolton, North West England, Jack started coaching soccer for local youth sporting organizations whilst obtaining a level 3 National Diploma in sports development, coaching and fitness. Through his local College, Jack gained work experience with Bolton Wanderers football in the community scheme, teaching local children alongside the club’s professional coaches.

Jack moved on to work towards his Bachelor of Science Degree, in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Bolton. Whilst completing his studies he volunteered at a local soccer club working with the club’s goalkeepers and the Boys U11’s as the team’s head coach. Upon completion of his Bachelor’s Degree he applied for his first coaching experience here in the USA.

In summer of 2014 Jack began working for Challenger Sports, as one of their international soccer coaches he utilizes the skills and experiences gained through his coaching education to deliver high quality soccer practices to both children and young adults.

Through Challenger Sports Jack joined STAR SC in Spring of 2015, becoming the club's Goalkeeping coach, team trainer and coach of the Rising Stars Academy. In 2016 he was awarded the Challenger Sports, Cincinnati region academy trainer of the year award.
